As you know, the newest assessment of our industry’s diversity efforts came out in time for Diversity Week (the Multi-Ethnic Employment in Telecommunications survey commissioned by NAMIC). The story was that we are doing okay, but haven’t improved since we last measured.
This type of information can be seen as a challenge or an opportunity. The good news about a survey like this is that it can serve as a wake-up call to rouse a company’s diversity efforts. In any organization, you need a sense of urgency to make change and that is what is required.
For maximum effectiveness, we need to institutionalize diversity and create programs that can scale and take the industry to the next level.
